Dried Fruit Balls
 
·         1cup whole wheat flour
·         ¾ cup yellow cornmeal
·         2/3 cup dried mixed fruit bits
·         1 tsp oil
·         ½ cup fruit juice (use more or less for desired consistency)
 
Preheat oven to 250 degrees and grease (or spray) two cookie sheets.
Mix all ingredients. Shape into ½ inch balls and place on cookie sheet. They don’t spread so can be placed close together.
Bake 45 minutes, leave in oven until oven cools to dry out and be crunchy.
Makes about 100 balls.
 
Seed Crunchies
 
·         1cup whole wheat flour
·         ¾ cup yellow cornmeal
·         ½ cup rodent seed mix
·         1 tsp oil
·         2 Tbsp dried parsley
·         ¾ cup beef  broth
 
Preheat oven to 250 degrees and grease (or spray) two cookie sheets.
Mix all ingredients. Shape into ½ inch balls and place on cookie sheet. They don’t spread so can be placed close together.
Bake 45 minutes, leave in oven until oven cools to dry out and be crunchy.
Makes about 100 balls.
 
Rattie Cookies
 
·         1 tsp. overripe banana       
·         1/8 tsp butterscotch flavored sundae topping
·         ½ tsp (or more) toasted wheat germ
·         All purpose flour as needed
 
Mash the banana, then mix with butterscotch syrup. Sprinkle with wheat germ and mix. Keep adding wheat germ until the mixture is semi-firm. Sprinkle some flour on waxed paper and shape the dough into the shape of a Tootsie Roll. Sprinkle with more flour and cut the roll into slices, using flour to keep them from sticking together.
Any left over cookies can be wrapped in waxed paper and refrigerated up to 4 days or they can be frozen for about a month.
 
Summer Salad
 
·         1 Apple
·         1 Banana
·         20 Grapes
·         1 Pear
·         ½ Small melon
·         1 Papaya
·         1 Apricot
·         5 Strawberries
·         2 Cups cooked, cooled pasta
(use small size like macaroni, or cut in small pieces)

Slice fruit into bite size pieces (fairly small) and mix together. Serve over pasta. You can also combine fruit with pasta and freeze entire mixture in ice cube trays (add water or fruit juice as needed). Once salad is frozen it can be defrosted, or served frozen as salad-pops to cool everyone down on those hot summer days.
 
Peanut Butter Crunch
 
·         1 cup whole wheat flour
·         1 Tbsp crunchy reduced-fat peanut butter
·         1Tbsp honey
·         1/3 cup water
 
Preheat over to 250 degrees. Grease cookie sheet (or use a spray).
Mix all ingredients. Shape into ½ inch balls and place on cookie sheet. They don’t spread so can be placed close together.
Bake 45 minutes, leave in oven until oven cools to dry out and be crunchy.
Makes about 60 balls.
 
Rat Food
 
·         1 cp Field peas, or assorted beans, cooked till tender.
·         1/4 cp brown rice, cooked.
·         1/4 cp raw spinach,  chopped
Let cool then add:
·         1/4 cup crushed, dry seaweed
·         1/4 cp raw chopped walnuts
·         1 teaspoon molasses
·         1 teaspoon honey
·         1 tablespoon sesame or nut butter (sugar free)
 Mix well. Freeze.
 One teaspoon per day per rat (mornings)
 
Critter cookies
·          1 drop vanilla extract
·          1/4 tsp crushed mint leaves
·          1/2 banana, mashed
·          1 tbsp honey
·          1 small carrot pureed
·          1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
·           1/4 cup ground oats
Mix pureed carrot, banana and honey in med bowl. Add walnuts and ground oats. Mix until blended. Knead in your hands for 1 or 2 minutes.
Roll out the "dough" in 1/8-to 1/4 in thick layers between sheets of wax or plastic wrap. Cut into small cookies (I use a round cookie cutter) about 3/4" across. Place cut shapes into a parchment paper covered cookie sheet.
Bake 325 degrees for about 30 minutes (check t make sure they are not browning too much)
Turn off heat and let the cookies sit in the warm oven for an hour or so
 
Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Cookies
·         1/4 cup peanut butter
·         1 banana
·          1/4 cup uncooked oats
·         1/2 to 1 cup whole wheat flour
·         1 tablespoon sugar
·          1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with foil or spray. Measure out the Peanut Butter and empty into mixing bowl. Peel and add the banana. Mix together until a creamy mixture forms. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Measure the oats and add together. Mix well. Add the flour, 1/4 cup at a time until a tough dough forms. Roll dough out into "snakes" and cut into 1/2 inch nuggets. Bake at 450 degrees for 7-10 minutes or until lightly brown. Let cool. Serve to hungry ratties!

Tuna Bites
  • 2 6oz cans drained tuna or salmon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups flour

Mix together. Dough should be stiff. Roll out to 1/4 thickness. Place on cookie sheet and back at 250 for 30 minutes (longer if you want it to be crispy)

Cut into 1/4 inc cubes, Freeze or refrigerate.

Rat Biscuits
 
·         2/3 cup Lab Block powder
·         1/3 cup wheat germ
·         1/3 cup Bisquick
 
Mix together above ingredients and add water to form biscuit-like dough. Spoon nickle-size helpings onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 450° until firm and crispy (about 20 minutes). Let cool and store in an airtight container.
Variations: add raw shelled sunflower seeds, wild bird seed, pumpkin seeds, wheat kernels, oatmeal, diced dried apple pieces, etc.
 
Corn Meal Treats
 
·         1 cup Lab Block powder
·         1½ cups corn meal
·         2 Tbs  honey
·         1 small egg
·         add oil if desired
 
Bake for 15 minutes at 350°.
Oat Treats
 
·         1½ cups Lab Block powder
·         1½ cups whole oats
·         2 Tbs. honey
·         1 small egg
·         add oil if desired
 
Bake for 15 minutes at 350°.
